need a good laugh?

we're very slowly introducing jake to the potty.  he's very interested and likes to sit on it but he doesn't do anything.  he has pooped on the potty one time and to reward him we got him "percy" from thomas the train.  we told him if he pooped in the potty again, we'd get "james" or "toby" also from thomas the train.  he totally understands the concept.  he knows that if he poops on the potty he'll get one of the two toys.  so....today i had to pee.  (all you mommies know we never get any privacy.)  so when i'm finished jake announces "mommy pee-pee in da potty! mommy get james!"  he was so very excited for me.  he then said "mommy go to da 'tore and get james. you pee-pee!"  i couldn't help but laugh.  oh how this little boy always gives me a good laugh!

jesus loves me

here's my buddy singing one of his favorite songs....jesus loves me.

bless his heart

i feel so bad for jake.  he's got another ear infection.  he had been extremely fussy and every little thing that went wrong would set him off.  i just knew something was wrong.  it's so out of character for jake to act like that.  he's normally very easy to please and very rarely is fussy.  he had no fever and no 2nd year molars cutting through.  my only guess was an ear infection.  thursday morning he woke up crying and holding his ears.  he looked right at me and said "mommy, ears hurt."  luckily momma was able to take him to to doctor and i went on to school.  she called and said that dr. chea could see blood all around his ear drum in his right ear.  however, both tubes are still in.  so who knows why he's still getting ear infections.  perhaps the tube is clogged? i'm not sure.  but we go for a re-check in 3 weeks.  bless my sweet jake's heart!

26 months old

i think this picture sums up jake pretty well.  jake loves being outside....no matter how hot it is.  and he most certainly loves riding on grandpa's tractor and playing in the dirt.  jake also loves to run, run, run.  he'll say "come on mommy, wun wif me!"  this little boy is full of energy.

jake got invited to his first birthday party.  jake wasn't a fan of all the kids running around.  he really loved eating his hot dog, chips, and cake.  behind our picnic table was this little pile of dirt.  it just so happened that jake had brought his "man truck" with him that day.  so needless to say, jake didn't play with the rest of the kids in the park.  he was perfectly happy with his little dirt pile and man truck!

i don't think jake has changed much in weight or height since his two year check up.  he still wears size 4 diapers, a 7 1/2 wide shoe, and mostly 2T shorts and shirts.  he still loves thomas the train, elmo, and any of the shows on PBS kids.  his new loves are spiderman and bob the builder.  jake is an excellent eater.  he loves green beans, peas, raw carrots (dipped in ranch, of course), grapes, apples with a little peanut butter on them, cereal (kix or cinnamon toast crunch), grandma's pancakes, and bananas.  he loves to drink milk, juice and water.  and since it's been hot lately, we sometimes make him a milkshake.

i must brag on my little boy.  the Lord has blessed us with a very sweet little boy.  he has the kindest heart.  he does a really good job at obeying (most of the time).  but what makes me the most proud is when we are in public and he gets compliments on his behavior.  jake loves to help.  he loves to share and he uses his manners.  oh how we love him so very much and are very proud of the amazing little boy he is becoming!

a few reasons why i love this kid

*as we are coming inside from playing in the dirt, jake says "mommy, i wipe my shoes off.  dirt "tay outside."  where did this kid learn these good manners?!

*as jake is finishing up supper, i asked him "jake are you all done?" he says "yes, mommy, i aw done."  then i asked him if he liked supper.  he said "mommy, dat sam-ich taste good.  good job, mommy."

*when jake gets upset or doesn't get his way, he pouts. (what kid doesn't?) anyway, i like to make the pouty face right back at him.  one day he stuck his finger out and touched my bottom lip.  i made a silly noise and he began to laugh.  jake wanted me to do the pouty lip over and over again.  so i finally said "ok jake, one more time." he looked right at me and said "wast time mommy and no more.  den mommy take a break."  i busted out laughing at this one!

*jake's latest saying is "um, not yet.  jake do dis first."  for instance, if it's time for a bath jake will say "um, i pway twains first mommy, den i take a baf."  or if we're outside playing and it's time to go in, he'll say "um, mommy i pway outside first, den i go inside. okay mommy?"

*if jake goes poo-poo in the potty (he's done it once already), then we told him he could have "james" from thomas the train.  so the other day jake was taking a bath and he "pooted."  he said excitedly "oh mommy, i poop! i get james!" so i replied, "jake did you poop or poot?" he said "mommy i make bubbles!"

oh. my. gosh.  i sure do love this kid!!!!

easter 2012

sorry this post is so late!  my camera is broken.  luckily it's still under warranty and hopefully it will be fixed soon.  so anyway, i used my mom's camera to take a few pictures on easter.  unfortunately we didn't get a family picture this year, but we did get several cute pictures of jake.

hope everyone had a wonderful easter with your family and friends!

spring break fun

josh, jake and i went to dollywood yesterday. we knew jake would love it. jake loves to be thrown up in the air, spun around, and loves to go fast! and he sure did love it! we rode the carousel five times, took a ride on the flying elephants, rode the lemon twist, and josh and jake squirted people on the beaver battle ride. jake and i took a break while josh rode the war eagle.
about a week prior to us leaving, we asked jake if he wanted to ride a "big choo-choo." of course, he was very excited about riding a real train. well, while we were waiting in line to ride the carousel the train whistle blew. jake was sooo excited. (here he is pointing to the train)
he was excited about getting on board. he kept saying "all aboard" over and over. we sat on the first car.....big mistake. the conductor blew the whistle and jake looked at me and said "dis big twain is too woud mommy, get off!" there was no turning back. he clinched to me and buried his face in my chest for the whole ride. i kept my hands over his ears the whole time. when the 20 minute ride was finally over, we asked jake if he wanted to ride the big train again. he gave a firm "no. jake not ride dat big choo-choo no more."

overall, we had a really great time. josh took jake swimming in the indoor swimming pool. we went down to the outlets and shopped around. as we were walking back to the car and this big storm came out of nowhere. needless to say, we were soaking wet. i can't wait to take jake back again and ride even more rides. there were many more rides we wanted to take him on, but he was just too tired (and so were we).
