date night
last night josh and i had our first date night since last summer. i know....i know. that's terrible. and we really need to "date" more often. my mom kept jake for us (overnight). josh and i went to red lobster and enjoyed a very yummy, uninterrupted meal (parents, you know what i mean). after we ate, we went to the mall. i thought the mall had a baby gap, but it didn't. so we went to gymboree to buy jake some bigger socks. of course, we stopped by tutti frutti to get some frozen yogurt. then we decided to go to target and get a movie to watch. josh picked out "the edge of darkness." josh always picks out good movies, so i never argue with him about it. on the way home, our topic of discussion was poop. yep, it was pretty hilarious!!!! and yes, we act very silly when we get tired. i told josh that i might have to watch the movie in the morning because i was so tired. but as soon as we started watching it, it was very addictive. such a suspense/thriller kind of movie! a definite must see!! we hit the sack around 12:15am. and here we are back up again at 7:30 am. i am beginning to understand the importance of still "dating" your husband when your married and especially after kids. i needed that alone time with him. i needed to laugh, carry on an adult conversation, and just spend time with the man i love. so....here's to more date nights in the future!!

11 months old
look at the sweet face of this 11 month old boy!!! isn't he just adorable?!? and the bib definitely describes him right now. jake is into EVERYTHING these days. he changes the channel on the tv (and he's almost tall enough to actually touch the power button), opens cabinets and drawers and puts things in them (only for me to find them a week or two later), and he's extremely destructive in his walker. if anything is in his way, he plows it over. literally. jake is trying to walk. he can take about 3-4 steps without falling. he prefers to hold our fingers when he's walking. jake has six teeth now. two on the top and four on the bottom. he is wearing 12 - 18 month clothes and a size 3 diaper. he eats three meals a day with two snacks in between. he sleeps from 8ish to 6ish. he sometimes still wakes up during the night, but we usually just let him cry it out. jake takes two naps during the day. the other day, i put him on our scale and it said 25 lbs.!!! i believe it. like i've said before, i have a big boy. i'm guessing he's around 30 or 31 inches long. jake loves bath time and loves to splash in the water. he can say "ma-ma", "da-da", "ba-ba" (translated is bye-bye because he waves when saying it), "na-na", and he whispers "pa-pa". he makes tons of other sounds too! he still loves to read and will bring you the book that he wants to read. he has tried some new foods :: choc. chip cookie, yogurt from tutti frutti, chicken, potatoes, a biscuit, kix, goldfish, and macaroni and cheese. i have a feeling that this little boy won't turn any food down. he loves to eat.
jake is going through that separation anxiety stage. so these last few weeks have been hard for us both. he cries in the nursery at church. and there were two times when he wouldn't even go to momma or barbara! i couldn't believe that! he still prefers his mommy over everybody....which of course i love!!! he's growing up so fast and i absolutely love his little personality. i find it hard to believe that in one month he'll be ONE!!! happy 11 months jake!!!

look how independent he's becoming!!!
here's that look of destruction i was telling you about!

bath time fun!

loving these sweet kisses from jake!!!
