you are looking at the face of the most adorable little 13 month old boy in the world! jake is developing quite the personality these days. for the most part, he's happy. but there are those days where he lets you know what he thinks. he is very impatient when waiting on his food or if you are eating and he is not....oh..no no!! jake weighs around 26 lbs. and is around 31 inches long. he is wearing 18-24 month clothes. he wears a size 4 diaper. he still eats 3 meals a day with 2 snacks between. jake takes a nap in the morning and a nap in the afternoon. he usually goes to bed around 8:30 and is back up around 6:00 (unless it's a saturday or sunday and he'll sleep til almost 8 am). for about 3 weeks, jake was NOT sleeping through the night. he would wake up around 6-7 times each night. our doctor recommended that we try going in and checking on him 5 minutes after he'd been crying, then wait 10 and check, 15 and check, etc. until he fell back asleep. it took about 4 nights for it to work. now...he sleeps through the night again. jake has some MAJOR separation anxiety. he will not let me get out of his sight. if i leave the room...he screams and cries (no exaggeration). he's finally getting better in the mornings when i leave. for about 5 weeks he would just scream and cry when i reached for the door to leave. talk about break-your-heart!!!! jake is definitely a momma's boy for sure!!!

some of jake's new favorite foods are: cheese puffs, blueberry waffles, chicken nuggets, jell-o (orange is his favorite flavor), cheeseburgers, chicken salad, eggs, toast, mild salsa and chips, ranch dressing (i know it's not a food, but he likes to dip his finger in it and lick the ranch off), hot dogs, and wheaties cereal. jake will try anything. some foods he doesn't care for quite yet are: cucumbers, lima beans, ice cream (guess it's too cold), popsicles (for the same reason as before, i guess), and french fries. strange....i know.

jake loves to laugh. one night we were watching american idol and everyone was laughing, so jake laughed too. when everyone was clapping, jake clapped too! it was very cute!!! he does the same thing anywhere we are....church, restaurants, people's houses, etc. he loves watching other people and copying what they do.

he is also very smart (i know every mom is a little partial). he knows that his socks and shoes go on his feet. he also knows that mommy and daddy wear shoes too....he just sometimes gets our shoes confused (which is hilarious too see josh wearing my dress shoes....and he acts the part too). if we aren't wearing any shoes, he'll go to our closet and get one shoe, bring it back to us, and put it on our foot. if we say "somebody's here" he'll go to the door and wait for them to come in. if i say "let's change your diaper" he'll go to his room. if i say "do you want to go outside?" he'll go get his shoes and go to the door and wait. if i say "where are the horses?" he'll point across the street. jake's new words are "kitty" and "boo" (like peek-a-boo). he jibber-jabbers all the time. he's beginning to blow kisses and waves more accurately when we say bye-bye (versus waving when we're already gone). we're trying to teach him a little sign language too.

jake loves to go outside. he plays in the grass. he likes to pick the grass and throw it. (he thinks it's hilarious). jake likes to swing, ride in his wagon, walk all over the yard, and go across the street to see the horses. he'd stay outside all day if we'd let him. jake is such a joy to be around. we are blessed to have him in our lives!!!
