jake went to the doctor today for his 1 year old check up. most babies triple their birth weight in the first year. well jake pretty much quadrupled his weight. he weighs 25 lbs. (93rd percentile), and he's 31 inches long (89th percentile). his head measures 19 1/4 (99th percentile). dr. chea was not concerned about his weight because he is proportional. (no wonder i have problems getting t-shirts over his head sometimes...lol.) we had lots of questions for dr. chea. jake gets mad (like any child) when he doesn't get his way. he has a little temper tantrum. well during this "temper tantrum" he bangs his head on things and often hits his head with his hands. she said to just ignore this behavior and he'll eventually stop. we are starting jake on milk instead of formula. so we'll rotate milk-formula-milk-formula-etc. throughout the day for a week. then next week it will be all milk. AND all in sippy cups except for his bedtime bottle. (that one will be the last one to hit the road) jake is teething and saying that he's having a hard time sleeping just might be an understatement. he wakes up screaming....we let him cry it out for about 30 minutes (one night an hour!!). since josh and i both work, we often times just give in and put jake in the bed with us. you can say what you want....we both have to have sleep in order to function. on the brighter side, jake met all his developmental milestones. he pulls up, cruises, walks with support, says 3-5 words, plays peek-a-boo, feeds himself with his fingers and tries with the spoon, waves bye-bye, drinks from sippy cups, and points at everything. we turned his car seat around in momma's car because his feet were hitting he back seat. i think it will be a little while longer before we turn him around in my car. jake is growing like a weed and i am so glad he is big and healthy.
