sweet baby #2

this past tuesday, josh and i went to for the 12 week ultrasound appointment.  i was so excited but also nervous.  this pregnancy has been totally different from jake's.   i really wasn't sick at all with jake.  however, i have been sick/nauseous with this one the whole time so far.  (not fun at all)  i was very relieved to hear/see the baby's heartbeat.  our baby measured right on target with the due date and the ultrasound tech said everything looked great.  here are a few pictures of our sweet baby.

week and day: 12 weeks

belly button in or out:  in

wedding rings on or off: on

food cravings: cereal

food aversions: the smell of - popcorn, grilled hot dogs. the taste of bbq, grilled chicken

nausea: mornings and evenings

energy: umm....exhausted!!!

weight gain: none......yet

maternity clothes: maternity jeans, using the bella bands for my work pants, regular shirts

size of baby: about 2 inches long (the size of a lime)

changes in baby: the most dramatic development this week is reflexes.  his/her fingers will soon begin to open and close, toes will curl, and eye muscles will clench.  his/her mouth will make sucking movements.  the kidneys are beginning to excrete into his/her bladder.

next appointment: september 18th

other: we showed jake the pictures of the baby and he said "wook at at coot (cute) baby, mommy!"

"every day"

jake's latest saying is "every day." i have no clue where he got it from. here are some of our conversations::

mommy: "jake, do you need to go pee-pee?"
jake: "i go pee-pee in da potty every day!"

(we've been watching the olympics and try to get jake to say USA, but he says AAA.)
jake: "daddy, what you doin'?"
daddy: "watching the olympics on tv."
jake: "but daddy! you watch the AAA every day!"

mommy: "it's time to go to school, jake."
jake: "i go to 'cool wif you every day!"

mommy: "jake, you need to take a shower. you stink! we've been playing outside."
jake: "but mommy, i not 'tinky.  my cwothes (clothes) are dwy (dry)."
mommy: "but you are all sweaty."
jake: "i take a shower every day!"

i'm going to try to get him saying "every day" on the video camera.  the way he says it is hilarious!!!  he  adds it to the end of almost every sentence and it just cracks me up!!!  stay tuned....i may try to get a video of it today.

folly beach 2012

first of all, let's take a look back at jake last year (18 months) and jake this year (2 1/2 years old).  ummm....wow.  my little boy sure has grown up.......A LOT!



this was our last vacation as a family of three and we definitely made the most of it.  jake really loved the beach this year.  he loved building castles and playing in the water.  we took a trip to the sc aquarium again and jake seemed to enjoy it more this year than he did last year.  then we took jake for his very first boat ride.  we even saw some dolphins in the water.....jake was super excited about that!  we tried going to the alligator swamp, but it stormed really bad so we weren't able to go.  we also took a trip to the USS Yorktown.  jake loved seeing the big planes on the flight deck.  he loved finding seashells on the beach and we even found two starfish.  both of them were still alive, so we put them back in the water.  jake thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the pool with josh.

josh and i were asked a million questions this week.  "WHY?" "WHERE?" "WHAT YOU DOIN'?"

oh. my. word.

here are a few examples::

mommy: "jake, let's go get something to eat." 

jake: "WHY?"

mommy: "because it's time to eat lunch."

jake: "WHY?"

daddy: "jake, look! did you see that dolphin?"

jake: "WHERE?"

daddy: "right there! look!"

jake: "WHERE? i don't see it. WHERE?"

jake: "what you doin' mommy?

mommy: "i'm getting ready so we can go eat."

jake: "WHY mommy?

mommy: "because i'm hungry."

jake: "WHY?"

i guess he's reached that "inquisitive" stage.  everything gets a "WHY?" or "WHERE?" or "WHAT YOU DOIN'?"  and he doesn't say it quietly, he yells it!  it cracks me up most of the time and i try to give him a good explanation of why or where or what i'm doing, but sometimes i just have to ignore him.  

anyway, we had a great time at the beach and i'm glad i got to enjoy it with my two favorite boys.
