it's hard to believe this handsome, sweet, tender-hearted fella is SIX!

big girl bed

i remember when jake got his "big boy bed." we were so anxious for him to have one.  well, with allie we didn't rush it.  jake had his "big boy bed" at 18 months old.  allie got her "big girl bed" at 3 years old.  i think you live and you learn.  you learn not to rush things with the second child.  you learn enjoy those "baby" moments.  so this was very bittersweet for us, but she is clearly thrilled about it.

now, this is not just any bed.  there is a story behind it.  after my pa crain passed away last year, my grandma betsy told us to go through the house and take what we wanted.  i found this twin bed frame in the basement, along with a nightstand and dresser.  it needed a little TLC, so my pa let said he'd sand it and paint it for me.  it has pillows on it that my grandma betsy made and also a quilt that my grandma betsy and grandma fiske made together after pa crain died.  allie is surrounded by lots of love in this room.  and i wouldn't have it any other way.
