4 months old

(read this first part in a UFC announcer voice) "ladies and gentlemen, the heavy weight champ weighing in at a whopping 15 lbs. and 4 oz. is ...... jake slatten!"

yep! my little boy isn't so little anymore. holy cow!!! he's HUGE!!! so needless to say, dr. chea was very pleased. jake went from being in the 6th percentile to being in the 58th percentile in 2 months. (fyi...that's a huge jump) he's eating anywhere from 6-7 oz. every 3-4 hours during the day (that's as much as a 5-6 month old eats). so she said to go ahead with solids. so first we're trying rice cereal, then oatmeal, then veggies, then fruit. jake met all his developmental milestones except for rolling over (which he's only done twice). i joked with dr. chea and said that he couldn't roll over because he's too chunky. she actually said that bigger babies usually roll over a little later than skinny babies. she said as long as he's rolling both ways by 6 months, she's not worried. jake had another flare up of his eczema and she suggested that we try aquaphor before using the steroid cream again. and of course, he got the dreaded 4 month shots which he was not happy about...but who enjoys getting shots?!? today's visit was just wonderful, wonderful news. i'm so happy that my sweet boy is growing so big and healthy.

other updates :: jake is wearing his 3-6 month clothes. he is in the 1-2 size diapers (huggies makes the "in between" size). but i have this feeling we'll be telling those good-bye real soon. he goes to bed around 9ish and usually wakes up around 3:30/4:00am for a feeding and then sleeps again until about 7 or 8. now every now and then, he'll sleep until 9 or 10am in the morning. and even more rare....he'll sleep all through the night. those are the nights i wake up and run to check on him. (moms, you know that feeling.) he is really developing a cute, fun personality. he loves to talk, giggle, and play all day long. he is definitely all boy!!!
