7 months

jake is 7 months old! he is quite the "talker" and the charmer. he will return a smile to anyone he knows. we are still waiting on him to say those famous first words, such as "ma-ma" and "da-da." right now, he just thinks it's funny for us to say those words over and over. this little boy loves to play. he will play up until it's nap time and sometimes even falls asleep while he's playing. he loves to be the center of attention. he is eating about 28 ounces a day and has rice/a fruit/a veggie twice a day. jake has loved every food so far. we've even given him a green bean, mashed potatoes, and a taste of ice cream. he wasn't so sure about them, but he was interested. he knows how to drink out of the sippy cup....now just to get him to hold it. he takes 3 naps a day and sleeps from 8:30ish - 6:30ish each night. he wears size 3 diapers and is wearing his 9 month clothes. yes...i said 9 month clothes!!! jake is a big boy. he weighs 20 lbs. 8 oz. my mom and barbara took him to the doctor today (tuesday) to make sure that his ear infection had cleared up. it had. i also had a list of questions for my mom to ask dr. chea. the biggest issue was jake's eczema. he just randomly breaks out. so, dr chea said to continue lathering him down with aveeno lotion. he is just super-sensitive to everything and we have to make sure that everything we use is scent and dye free.

bath time is so much fun now...we're playing with toys and eating bubbles. daddy even gives jake really cool bubble hair-do's. he loves to put his hands under the water while the tub is filling up. jake giggles and laughs when we play with his squirt toys (which all have names, courtesy of daddy....willy the whale, herbert the hermit crab, wally the walrus, steve the starfish, harry the hammerhead shark, and stan the sting ray). yes...bath time is hilarious!!!

jake is a very curious boy. he wants to drink from our cup, type on the computer, play in the refrigerator, touch everything, and put everything in his mouth. needless to say, we have to watch him very carefully. if this is any indication of him as a 2 year old...we're in for it!!!

jake absolutely LOVES to be outside. we only take him out either in the morning or the late afternoon right now because it's so hot. these pictures were taken on our favorite morning together...saturday mornings. after jake has his bottle we go outside and watch the cars go by. we listen to the chickens, roosters, dogs, birds, and sometimes we hear the horse's neigh. (can you tell our neighbors across the street have a farm?)

i saved the best news for last. jake has 2 teeth now. the first one came in on august 29th and the second one came in on september 14th. bless all of our hearts....we had some sleepless nights...well let's be honest...many, many sleepless nights. boy are we glad those teeth are in. jake is finally sleeping through the night again. i just hope those top two teeth wait a few weeks before they make an appearance so that we all can get some sleep.
