snow day #1 - so the first snow day was just me, allie and jake. josh had to go to work. (the roads weren't bad yet and nothing was really sticking because the roads weren't cold enough yet.) we watched out the window non-stop at all the snow falling. it was beautiful!!
snow day #2 - josh got to stay at home with us. we all woke up and just sat in the living room and watched t.v. for a while. then jake complained that his stomach was hurting. i thought he just needed to eat breakfast. he said he wasn't hungry and just wanted some milk. literally 30 minutes later, he is throwing up. oh great! exactly how i wanted to spend my "snow days". bless his little heart. josh and i decided to "divide and conquer." he took allie and i took jake. we kept them separated the best we could.
snow day #3 - jake went all night without throwing up and seemed much better, so we went out to play in the snow. we had a BLAST!!!
snow day #4 - josh still didn't have to go to work. it was glorious!!! jake wanted to build a snowman and go to see norman and shelby (our friends from church). the roads were drivable by late afternoon. i made homemade chicken noodle soup to warm up the boys when they got back.
snow day #5 - (valentines day) josh did have to go back to work….and he had to be there at 7 am. he texted me and said the parking lot at his work was a sheet of ice. one of the other guy's car slid and hit a district manager's car. not good. josh texted me later on in the day and said he didn't feel well. allie had diarrhea all day and so did jake. (i have a sinus infection). (**this is where things go downhill**) we decided to go get dinner at Chickfila for supper (kid friendly) and run over to Old Time Pottery to look for some pillows. jake started crying and saying his tummy hurt, so we headed for the checkout lines. he gags and i catch everything in my hands. (gross i know….but the things you do for your kids…) i looked at the checkout lady and kindly asked for a trash can. she quickly realized why and brought on over and ran to get some paper towels. jake is fine the whole way home….talks non-stop. then as we are walking in the door, allie throws up. holy cow! best valentines day ever, right?!? (insert sarcasm)
snow day #6 - i felt like poo myself, but mustered up the strength to go to CVS to get a prescription filled for jake and allie, and also picked up some meds for josh and i. then went to Bi-Lo to get BRATs foods for everyone. i left at 8:45 am and was back by 10:00 am. (i won't tell you how fast i drove.) everyone was pitiful, just pitiful.
snow day #7 - everyone seems to be doing much better. the snow is almost gone and things are getting back to normal. josh, jake and allie went to to church. i went to the minute clinic. OTC meds were not working or easing up any pain. diagnosis - viral! what?!?!? no wonder the OTC sinus meds weren't working. AND…double ear infection. first one EVER. no wonder the kids were so cranky when they had them. these things hurt.
hopefully we are all on the mend and will stay well for a while. i think we've had our fair share of sickness!!! i hope that you're show days were fun and "memorable" like ours!!!
