6 weeks old

this sunday, jake will be 6 weeks old. no one was lying when they said that those first few weeks were going to be tough. it took a lot of adjusting for josh and i...well and jake too. we are finally learning his cries and feel like we're on a normal schedule. last night, jake slept from 11 pm to 4:15 am. that was a huge step for him. (and nice for me to be able to actually get 5 hours of sleep..in a row!!!)

jake loves to interact with people. he will smile at you when you talk to him. it's so sweet. (to see a video of it, scroll down.) he is just now filling out his newborn outfits and is still wearing newborn diapers. i tried a size one diaper on him yesterday (just to see if it would fit) and nope! the diaper covered almost all of his chest. i just laughed and took it off. he'll get there eventually! he is hot natured and sweats a lot. i think jake's gonna be left handed. he favors his left hand and is always putting it in his mouth. he also sucks his thumb...very cute! he is finally eating 3 1/2 - 4 oz. at each feeding. i'm hoping by the 2 month check up he will weigh over 8 lbs. i'm really loving staying at home with jake and watching how he changes from week to week.
